TEMPO Interactive, Jayapura:West Papua National Liberation Army (TPN PB) and Free Papua Movement (OPM) claimed that three locations in Papua are ready to celebrate their anniversary on July 1. For this event, they will raise their flag known as Bintang Kejora or the Morning Star.
“The first place is Wamena that represents Papuans living in the mountains. The second is Yapen Waropen that represents those who live in the coastal areas. The last is in central Mamberamo and Keerom Regency. They represent people in the valleys and flatlands,” said the coordinator for this celebration Lambert Pekikir on Wednesday, June 27. He explained that the flag will be raised three days in a row from July 1st to July 3rd.
Lambert also said that TPN PB and OPM will be responsible if the police will arrest civilians for raising the flag. “We will be ready to help people.” The police have promised to increase the security regarding this event. Papua Regional Police Sr. Comr. Johannes Nugroho Wicaksono said that they will try to stop people from raising the flag.
